Irrigation department announces annual closure schedule for rabi harvest 2023-24Breaking

The Irrigation Department  on Tuesday has released the annual closure schedule for the Rabi harvest 2023-24. Various annual canals of Punjab will remain closed from December 26, 2023, to January 30, 2024. The annual closure schedule of all the canals coming out of Mangla and Tarbela Dam has been released. Under the schedule, Lower Jhelum Canal and Rasool Kadirabad Link Canal coming out of Mangla Command will be closed from December 26, 2023, to January 12, 2024. Kadirabad Block Link Canal will remain closed from December 27 to January 13. According to the spokesman, Lower Bari Doab Canal and Baloki Sulaimanki Canal will remain closed from December 29 to January 15. Upper Pakpattan Canal and Eastern Sadiqiya Canal will remain closed from December 30 to January 16.

Upper Jhelum Canal will remain closed from January 12 to January 29, Lower Chenab Kenna, Jhang Branch from January 13 to January 30. Jhang Branch will remain closed from December 27 to January 13, Upper Bahawal Canal from January 13 to January 30. Upper Chenab Canal will remain closed from December 26 to January 12 and Central Bari du Ab Canal will remain closed from December 27 to January 13. According to the spokesperson of the Irrigation Department, the Thal Canal from Tarbela Command will remain closed from January 13 to January 30. All the canals coming out of Trimum Barrage, including the Trimum Sadhanai Link Canal, will remain closed from January 10 to January 27. Sidhnai Canal and Sidhnai Melsi Bahawal Link Canal will remain closed from January 11 to January 28, Lower Pakpattan Canal from January 12 to January 29. Lower Bahawal Canal will be closed from January 13 to January 30, all canals from Panjand Barrage will be closed from January 5 to January 22. All canals from Tunsa Barrage will be closed from December 31 to January 17. Under the annual plan, the selected canals will be thoroughly cleaned.
