April 08, 2026

Islamabad United owner Ali Naqvi has praised Pakistan for its role in promoting global peace. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Naqvi said that Pakistan should take pride in its contribution to international stability. Regarding the absence of spectators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Naqvi expressed that there was no disappointment among fans.

He said that the decision to restrict audiences was made in the national interest. Naqvi emphasised that, in consideration of national priorities, entertainment was set aside to support global peace. He highlighted that Islamabad was chosen as the venue for sensitive ceasefire discussions, requiring flexibility in logistics and security. He said that permitting large crowds in other cities would have diverted critical security resources from this significant mission.

"When weighing recreation against the delivery of global peace, Naqvi believes every Pakistani would have supported the same decision," he added. Naqvi maintained that pride in Pakistan’s leadership and its contribution to global peace should outweigh any frustration over missing PSL matches. He stated that this trade-off is one Pakistanis should willingly accept now and in the future.
