Acting Governor of Khyber KPK and Patron of Sarhad University ofScience  Information Technology, Peshawar has said that since 1947, we have been in thestruggle to bless our coming generations with ornament of education. Lately, the Private Sectoralso joined hands with Govt. in this noble cause and it has become an equal partner in thisrespect.The Governor lauded the achievements made by the University over the past 21 years. Hecongratulated the University management and faculty for maintaining quality academicstandards. He also congratulated the recipients of Gold Medals and degrees and their parents.He was addressing on the eve of 15th Convocation of Sarhad University, Peshawar, held in a localhotel here Tuesday.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Salim-ur-Rehman, Vice Chancellor, SUIT, a large number ofgraduating students, their parents, Academicians, faculty and students of the University.While presenting the address of welcome, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Salim-ur-Rehman, highlightedthe achievements of the University obtained in the last 21 years since its inception. He said thatUniversity has established so far five faculties, 15 departments and 4 institutes, the currentstrength of the students is 5000, whereas the number of passed out graduates has beenreached to 25000.He was of the view that last year, the University launched programs of Nursing and Allied HealthSciences, which has gained much popularity. He said it will go a long way in producing qualifiedhealth professionals for the country.

All the programs of the University are duly accredited and recognized by the concernedregulatory councils; which include Pakistan Engineering Council, Pharmacy Council of Pakistan,Pakistan Nursing Council and National Technology Council, and others, he added. Dr. Salim urRehman further said that research is the integral part of the University and in order to producequalified researchers, almost all the departments of the University have successfully launchedtheir M.Phil and PhD Programs.The University is actively engaged in carrying out Sports activities, co-curricular and extra-curricular events. Every year, he said, a large number of University students take part in Sportsactivities within and outside the University, as well as in the Sports competitions, conducted byHEC at National Level. He said that graduates of University are playing their positive role in thedevelopment of the country and serving different departments at National level.Later on, the vice-chancellor presented University souvenir to the chief guest.
