All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party government has snatched all fundamental rights of people under the barrel of gun and black laws in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to impress upon India to prevent its armed forces from harassing defenceless people and activists in the occupied territory.
He also urged the United Nations to force India to end the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act, Public Safety Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act which provides complete impunity to armed forces against any civilian prosecution in the occupied territory. Denouncing Indian media for misleading the world by unleashing a sinister campaign against the Kashmir freedom struggle, the spokesman said the Indian media is working on the dictations of Hindutva BJP/RSS organizations.
He said the Indian media is feeding more than one billion population of India with false propaganda about Kashmir and their true demand of right to self-determination, he said. The media, he added, is consciously presenting so-called peace in occupied Kashmir while hiding the true situation of the territory. He said people have been caged and their fundamental rights snatched under the black laws. He also criticized the media for ignoring the illegal detentions of thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders who have been facing political vendetta for over half a decade in India and IIOJK jails.
The statement said, all the Indian political parties, bureaucracy and even courts are working under the influence of BJP government and propagandist media. On the other hand the intelligence agencies are misleading the Indian politicians about the ground situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir by presenting this issue as something relating to jobs and economy, the statement pointed out.
He said although the lingering Kashmir dispute is a threat to peace in the entire South Asia, the people of Kashmir are the primary victims. He said they have always welcomed any dialogue process between India and Pakistan, but when the two countries were on table for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute, there must be the participation of Kashmiri leadership in the dialogue process.
