The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that India’s repressive tactics cannot suppress the Kashmiri people’s demand for a plebiscite or intimidate them into submission. According to the Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that Kashmir remains a political dispute that cannot be resolved through military might or repression.
He emphasized that threats, intimidation, atrocities and draconian laws cannot deter the Kashmiri people from pursuing their freedom movement to its logical conclusion. The spokesman highlighted that Kashmiri leaders and activists have been falsely detained under illegal imprisonment for over seven years, reflecting New Delhi’s deep-seated bias against the Kashmiri people.
He accused India of violating international laws by deploying a massive military presence equipped with nuclear and lethal weapons, alongside enforcing oppressive laws. He also criticized the settlement of non-Kashmiris in the occupied territory, which has altered the demography of the internationally recognized disputed territory. The statement further said that the Hindutva-driven BJP and Sangh Parivar are attempting to disrupt communal harmony in the occupied territory.
Hindtuva organizations such as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), BJP, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), and Jansangh parties, with the backing of Indian forces, are reportedly terrorizing Muslims in Jammu and promoting drug abuse in the Kashmir Valley. The APHC demanded the immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in various jails across India and the occupied territory. It also appealed to global human rights organizations to pressure India to release these detainees.
