Imposition of Section 144 in Islamabad to tackle smog proposedBreaking

Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommended to district administration of Islamabad the imposition of Section 144 in the jurisdiction of the federal capital in order to tackle the thick smog. After imposition of Section 144 complete ban will be announced on burning residue of crops and solid waste in the federal capital territory. According to EPA during the dry and winter season danger of spreading smog increased. Areas of East and central Punjab are most effected by smog. The EPA further stated that during next few months, air quality index will be decreased in Potohar region and plain areas of Punjab.

Smog likely to affect in areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore and other parts of the country. The EPA said that smog season usually started from November till November and also put a negative impact on human health, environmental and national economy. In the letter, the Environment Protection Agency said that en effective strategy being implemented to curb spreading of smog in the province and those vehicles will leak carbon will not be allowed to operate on the roads.
