The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a new circular banning all forms of video recording within its premises. The restriction applies to journalists, lawyers, and members of the public, with strict instructions that no one will be allowed to record videos in any part of the court building. According to the circular, the ban is comprehensive, covering courtrooms, corridors, waiting areas, and offices inside the court.
The order also extends to the use of professional cameras and mobile phone cameras. The decision means that both official and personal video recording will no longer be tolerated, regardless of the setting within court premises.The new rules clarify that mobile phones may only be kept on silent mode inside the court. Any attempt to live stream or record proceedings will be treated as a violation of the directive.
Additionally, the use of cameras for live coverage has been completely prohibited, further tightening control over media reporting within the IHC.The circular authorizes court security staff to take immediate action against individuals found violating the ban. This includes seizing recording devices and removing offenders from the premises if necessary.
