Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Chairperson Hina Pervaiz Butt visited the Burn Unit of Mayo Hospital, Lahore, where she met with the victim of a recent acid attack and her mother. She assured the affected family of complete justice. She announced that a Rapid Response Cell will soon be established in Punjab to ensure the protection of women, providing immediate legal and medical assistance in such cases.
This cell will comprise legal experts, psychologists, and social workers who will play a key role in the rehabilitation of victims and ensuring strict punishment for the perpetrators. “This is not just an isolated incident; it is a wake-up call for our society. We need to develop a strong, effective, and immediate response system against such heinous crimes. That is why we are expanding the scope of the Women Protection Authority to ensure timely justice and complete security for women,” she stated.
The Rapid Response Cell aims not only to prevent such criminal incidents but also to provide psychological, social, and legal support to the victims. The cell will operate through a 24/7 helpline, mobile units, and regional coordination centers. On this occasion, Hina Pervaiz Butt directed the police and other relevant authorities to promptly arrest all culprits involved in the acid attack case and take strict legal action against them.
