Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) in a coordinated action with Excise Mardan Police Station foiled a bid to smuggle heroin abroad and arrested a foreign drug smuggler on Nowshera Mardan Road on Wednesday. According to EIB spokesperson, the EIB received a tip-off about smuggling heroin from Islamabad International Airport to Dubai and intercepted a car carrying a passenger to Islamabad International Airport on Nowshera Mardan Road. The Excise police searched the car and recovered 57 heroin-filled capsules from the passenger, identified as Aqal Jan s/o Feroze Khan, resident of Kuki Khel Ali Mosque.
The police arrested the accused from the spot and took an air ticket, passport, and other travelling documents into custody and started an investigation after registering a case. The EIB said that the accused was planning to smuggle the heroin to Dubai through Islamabad International Airport.The EIB has warned of strict action against anyone found involved in drug smuggling. The department has also urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
