Heavy rain and snowfall in Peshawar, other districts turn weather colderBreaking

December 22, 2025

Rain and snowfall have begun across Peshawar and several other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, making the weather significantly colder. According to reports on Monday, rain has been continuing since last night in districts including Peshawar, Hangu and Charsadda, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature. In the upper districts such as Chitral, Kalam, Mahodand and Malam Jabba, heavy snowfall has covered mountains and surrounding areas with a white blanket, further intensifying the cold.

The recent precipitation has eased earlier concerns about a prolonged dry spell that posed risks to crops and the spread of diseases. Rainfall has also helped reduce air pollution and is expected to lower the risk of seasonal illnesses. Meanwhile, rain has continued for a second consecutive day in Abbottabad city and its surrounding areas, further lowering temperatures. The power supply has been disrupted in several areas due to the rain, resulting in load shedding and public inconvenience.

Cold conditions have also intensified in Galiyat and other upper regions. Authorities have forecast the possibility of snowfall in Galiyat, which may further decrease temperatures. Director General Galiyat Development Authority, Shah Rukh Ali, has advised tourists planning to visit the area to take precautionary measures. He urged travelers to wear warm clothing, use snow chains on vehicles, carry extra fuel and ensure they have sufficient food and essential supplies before starting their journey.
