Additional Secretary Mines and Mineral Department Punjab Capt (Retd) Waqar Rasheed has said that the department has launched a multimillion drilling project on exploration of gold mines in Attock in collaboration with Geological Survey of Pakistan. This was stated by him while briefing the media at the Indus River near Attock Khurd on Wednesday. Technical experts of the Punjab Minerals and Mines Department were also present on the occasion.
Responding to media queries, Capt (Retd) Waqar Rasheed said that the evaluation of the project will be completed with an estimated cost of Rupees 48.2 million. He said that the drone and magnet technology is being utilized during the underground drilling along the Indus River near Attock Khurd to get sampling of the gold mines.
He said that Province of the Punjab is full of natural resources while every district of the province has its own resources of land structure of petrography. The additional secretary further said that these mines and minerals are national assets which are being preserved. He said all out efforts are also being made to utilize these mines in the best interest of prosperity and socio-economic development of the country.
