A freight train coming from Karachi derailed due to high speed near Kalanchwala in Bahawalpur on Monday. Four of the carriages of the freight train which was loaded with fertilizers were derailed in the incident. According to railway officials, the accident occurred when the driver applied brakes while the freight car was chugging at high speed. Due to sudden brakes, the high-speed freight train went on the sand loop line. Four carriages of the train were derailed and its engine was damaged partially. Officials said that they were trying to clear the rail track.
