Pakistan on Wednesday said that the attack by Houthis on a trade vessel in which three Pakistanis had lost their lives and one was injured was unfortunate, reported.Giving a news briefing, Foreign Office spokesman Tahir Hussain Andrabi condemned the attack and said that the attack had increased risks to the movement of ships in the Red Sea. “We are keeping an eye on the situation,” he said, adding Pakistan supported the free movement of ships in international waters.

The spokesman said that negotiations between Iran and Oman were presently underway, and Pakistan as well as other brotherly countries supported the talks. He said that change in Iran’s military leadership was the country’s internal matter. “We are looking at the US-Saudi Arabia civil nuclear deal.”Andrabi said that the Mecca agreement was defensive in nature and reflected the commitment to ensure peace, security and stability in the region.

He went on to say that Pakistan was in touch with brotherly countries for the resolution of crisis in the Gulf. “We are trying to bring parties to the conflict to the negotiating table under the memorandum of understanding signed in Islamabad,” the spokesman said, adding that the country was optimistic that the parties would resume talks.  He said that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had met with Iranian officials in Tehran.

Yemen's coastguard said Tuesday a strike by the Iran-backed rebels on a vessel left six dead, including Pakistanis and an Indonesian citizen. There has been no official comment from the Houthis about the incident."I have learnt with deep concern about the unfortunate incident," Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar posted on X, confirming three Pakistanis had been killed and one wounded in the attack. "Pakistan strongly condemns the Houthi attack on a non-combatant commercial vessel," Dar added.
