Fire-fighters face a daunting task as the massive fire erupted in Galiyat forests in Abbottabad continued to rage on Saturday morning, destroying hundreds of trees and millions of plants.The Rescue 1122 teams, however, succeeded in dousing the blaze near populated areas, but it was expanding through the thick forests. More than 110 fire-brigade and rescue workers and numerous vehicles were taking part in the operation to bring the blaze under control.
Police personnel and members of the local population were also on their toes to play their role in the operation. The local administration also requested the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to provide them with two helicopters for the rescue operation. Hundreds of trees and millions of plants were turned into ashes due to the fire.
Wildlife was in grave danger and firefighters from all over the Hazara Division were called in. Earlier in October 2025, a massive fire broke out in Lunda Bazaar, located along the Karakoram Highway near Ayub Medical Complex in Mandian, reducing more than 40 shops and several nearby residential houses to ashes.The blaze caused losses amounting to millions of rupees.
