The Ministry of Finance has rejected the Ministry of Planning’s suggestion to release 25 per cent amount of the development budget between July-September 2023, and has instead settled for releasing 15 per cent only on Saturday. Similarly, it has decided to release 20 per cent amount of the budget between October-December 2023; 25 per cent between January-March 2024, and 40 per cent between April-June 2024. The federal government had on June 9, 2023 presented a proposed budget of Rs14.460 trillion for the fiscal year 2023-24.
