Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that the experience and guidance of ex-service men were an asset for the armed forces of Pakistan. The event was attended by former army chiefs General Raheel Sharif and General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, along with a large number of retired officers and soldiers.
Addressing a reception he hosted in the honour of ex-army men on the country’s 80th Independence Day on Friday night, the Field Marshal paid rich tributes to the valuable services rendered by them for the country’s defence and national unity, said an ISPR statement released on Saturday morning. He praised the contribution of former servicemen for strengthening national resilience, describing their experience and guidance as a valuable institutional asset for the Pakistan Armed Forces.
He also emphasized that their guidance remains important as the country faces an evolving security environment. A large number of retired officers and jawans, who attended the ceremony, said they would continue to support the armed forces in dealing with emerging security challenges.
Expressing full confidence in the leadership of the Pakistan Army, the veterans also vowed to continue to play their role for national unity, peace, stability and country’s prosperity. During the reception, the sacrifices, experience and longstanding contributions of veterans to Pakistan’s defence were recognized and appreciated.
