The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) crackdown against illegal money changers and those involved in the Hawala and Hundi business continued across the country. According to detail, under the directions of Director, FIA Karachi Zone, a raiding party was constituted by Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Mahar, Deputy Director, FIA SBC Karachi against Hawala Operators. Subsequently, a successful raid was conducted against organized Hawala Hundi gang at Wahab Arcade Main MA Jinnah road, Karachi by team of FIA SBC Karachi, which resulted in the recovery of the following items. The recovery items including huge national and foreign currency like, US dollars 32,700, Saudi Riyal 15,000, UAE Dhiram 800, PKR 9,88,82,500/- (9 Crores eighty eight lacs eighty two thousand and five hundred rupees. V. 5 mobile phones containing evidence of Hawala. Several registers / ledgers containing Hawala entries. Sources further revealed that case FIR No. 12/2023 under Sections 4,5/23 FER Act 1947 (amended vide Foreign Exchange Regulation Amendment Act 2020) r/w 34 & 109 PPC hasis being registered against accused persons namely, Muhammad Shahid, Muhammad Hussain, Abdul Rasheed. The accused have been arrested and the Investigation of the case is entrusted to Muhammad Saleem, Inspector FIA SBC Karachi.
