Federal secretary for education emphasizes collaborative efforts to improve educational standardsBreaking

Federal Secretary of Education and Professional Training, Mohiuddin Wani, has called for coordinated efforts between federal and provincial governments to address challenges in the education sector. Speaking at the opening ceremony of a two-day consultative workshop organized by the Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) on Monday, Wani highlighted the need to simplify assessment reports, including the National Achievement Test by PIE, for teachers, students, and stakeholders. He emphasized that making these reports more accessible will enhance their utility and understanding. Wani also advocated for the use of advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), in assessments. He believes that incorporating such technologies will not only improve the quality of assessments but also enable effective cross-validation.

The Federal Secretary stressed the importance of making all assessment reports from the Pakistan Institute of Education easily understandable, which will contribute to improvements in teaching methods, curricula, and teacher training. In his address, Wani underscored that training programs like this are essential for elevating educational standards to international levels and advancing educational objectives. He stated that such efforts are crucial for enhancing the quality of education for children. Dr Mohammad Shahid  Soroya, Director General of the Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE), emphasized the significance of a robust and standardized assessment framework for strengthening and elevating the education system. He stated that the workshop is vital for aligning educational standards with international benchmarks and improving educational goals.

Bella Jameel, CEO of ITA, provided a detailed briefing on the assessment framework, highlighting its benefits and implementation strategies. Representatives from various provinces attended the workshop, demonstrating a collective effort to improve education nationwide. The workshop aimed to review and standardize existing provincial and national assessment frameworks to enhance the quality of education across the country. Participants discussed similarities and differences between various frameworks to establish uniform standards.  Additionally, the workshop focused on developing a unified framework in collaboration with provincial and regional assessment centers, aligning with the national curriculum.
