The Federal Government is continuing work on sports facilities projects in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) with the aim of promoting healthy activities among youth and providing opportunities to talented players.
Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Mohyuddin Wani, said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination is providing all possible support to the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan. He described the development of modern sports infrastructure in the region as a valuable gift for its young population.
He said the initiative aims to promote sports activities and bring emerging talent to the forefront. He added that a total amount of Rs 30 million is being spent on these projects, under which modern futsal and padel tennis courts are being constructed in Chilas, Skardu, Hunza and Ghanche. These facilities will be equipped with standard flooring, proper lighting and essential sports equipment to enable young athletes to play according to international standards.
Mohyuddin Wani said that Gilgit-Baltistan possesses immense sports talent, and the completion of these projects will not only boost sports activities at the local level but also help prepare players for regional and national competitions.
He further stated that the Federal Government is prioritising the physical and mental development of youth, and promoting sports is an integral part of this vision. He added that the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination will continue working on additional sports projects in Gilgit-Baltistan in the future to bring the region’s youth into the national mainstream.
