The federal cabinet has approved substantial increases in electricity tariffs for commercial, agricultural, and bulk consumers starting July, aiming to address financial sustainability in the power sector. Commercial consumers will see their per-unit tariff rise to Rs. 77.15, marking an increase of Rs. 8.04. Meanwhile, agricultural consumers face a hike to Rs. 46.83 per unit, up by Rs. 6.62, while general services tariffs climb to Rs. 61.03 per unit, an increase of Rs. 6.98. Bulk consumers will pay Rs. 59.96 per unit, up by Rs. 5.51. Industrial consumers, however, have been spared from tariff adjustments in this round, maintaining current rates. The decision has been communicated to Nepra by the Power Division, reflecting government efforts to stabilize the electricity sector's financial health.
