More than 24,000 retailers have swiftly joined the Federal Board of Revenue's (FBR) Tajir Dost App within a mere two months, according to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). As part of the FBR's concerted efforts to onboard retailers into the tax net, a staggering 23,497 traders have enrolled across six major cities from April to June 3, with 19,463 traders signing up by June. The Tajir Dost initiative has seen an additional 4,654 traders registering, reflecting the scheme's effectiveness in encouraging compliance among businesses. Lahore leads the charge with a substantial 7,297 businessmen joining the ranks, followed closely by Karachi with 5,599 registrations, and Rawalpindi with 3,067 traders on board.
Moreover, Islamabad and Peshawar have witnessed 2,153 and 2,037 traders respectively embracing the initiative. From Quetta and other cities, 1,317 and 2,027 traders have also joined the tax net, totaling a commendable 21,470 traders from the six major cities alone. This surge in registrations underscores the growing awareness and acceptance of digital platforms for tax compliance among retailers nationwide. FBR officials hail this as a significant milestone in expanding the tax base and fostering a culture of transparency and accountability in the business sector.
