National Conference Jammu President Rattan Lal Gupta has emphasized that the issue of statehood is not just a political slogan but a fundamental concern that directly impacts the overall democratic structure of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, in a press release issued in Jammu, the senior NC leader made it clear that not only Congress but every individual in IIOJK is fighting for the restoration of statehood, as it is intrinsically linked to the aspirations of the people.
"The National Conference has been the torchbearer of democratic rights in J&K and has consistently raised the demand for full statehood at every forum. Our commitment is backed by relentless political struggle," he asserted. Reaffirming the party's stand, Rattan Lal Gupta urged the Indian government to take immediate steps toward restoring statehood and ensuring constitutional safeguards that protect the rights and identity of Kashmiri people.
"We do not indulge in political theatrics. The National Conference believes in action, and we will continue to fight for the people's rights with full dedication," he said. The senior NC leader further reiterated that the present government headed by Omar Abdullah remains resolute in its mission to restore the respect, dignity and constitutional rights of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring a prosperous and secure future for its people.
