In the ongoing hearings at election tribunals, the Appellate Tribunal Lahore High Court recently reviewed the appeal challenging the rejection of nomination papers for Rehana Dar, the mother of Usman Dar. The Tribunal granted approval to Rehana Dar's appeal from NA 117 Sialkot, nullifying the decision made by the Returning Officer. The appeals of several other candidates, including PTI's Rana Jameel Hasan from Kasur Provincial Constituency, PTI's Nasira Mayo from NA 131, and Maqsood Ahmed, were also successful. Meanwhile, at the Election Tribunal in Rawalpindi, proceedings focused on the appeal of Fawad Chaudhry. The tribunal, in a notable move, directed the appearance of Fawad Chaudhry. Following court orders, the police brought Fawad to the Election Tribunal's gate but, surprisingly, he was taken back to Islamabad without being presented. Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz expressed dissatisfaction, labeling the situation as a "drama."
The tribunal concluded the hearing on Fawad Chaudhry's appeals, and a decision has been reserved. In a positive turn, the Election Tribunal approved the nomination papers of Abdul Salam Afridi of PTI. Appeals of PTI leaders Shandana Gulzar and Shehryar Afridi were also accepted, validating their respective nominations. On a different note, the Sindh High Court dismissed the petition filed by MQM leader Hasan Sabir against the approval of PTI leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi's nomination papers from NA-236 by the Election Tribunal. During the hearing, the petitioner's lawyer mentioned the withdrawal of PTI's election symbol, the bat. In response, Justice Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry sought clarification on the legal aspects related to nomination papers and election symbols.
