Displaced Muslim families protest in Jammu against suspension of relief Breaking

January 15, 2025

Several Muslim families staged a protest outside the office of the Relief Commissioner, demanding the immediate restoration of relief for displaced persons.  According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesting families revealed that relief for 1,251 Muslim displaced families in Jammu had been halted 18 months ago under the pretext of verification. “To date, the relief remains suspended,” they stated, adding that some families have been selectively provided relief while others continue to suffer.

The protesters called for transparency in the verification process and demanded clarity on the progress made so far. They urged authorities to reinstate the relief immediately for those families whose verification has been completed.  The demonstrators pledged to continue their protest until their demands are met, highlighting the severe hardships faced by displaced families due to the suspension of relief, particularly for Muslim families.
