No clue has been found as yet about the whereabouts of Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas on Wednesday, PTI-backed winning independent candidate from NA-62, Sarai Alamgir, who had gone missing a few days ago while on the way to Islamabad to join the Sunni Ittehad Council.  Although it has not been confirmed yet whether he was arrested or whisked away, his family alleges he was taken away by some unidentified men from near River Jhelum bridge. His family members are deeply worried and fear for his safety. On Tuesday, police in Jhelum had registered an FIR on the complaint of Ilyas’s cousin in which it was stated that the newly elected MNA was abducted on his way to Islamabad. A spokesman for Jhelum Police had stated that the police launched an investigation into the alleged kidnapping of the MNA-elect.
