A two-day Digital Foreign Direct Investment (DFDI) Forum is commencing in Islamabad tomrrow on Tuesday. Talking to the foreign media in Islamabad on Monday, Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be the chief guest at the opening session.She mentioned that the purpose of the forum is to showcase the country's potential in startups and IT companies. Shaza Fatima highlighted that the country's IT industry has been growing at a reasonably fast pace.
She noted that export growth has been between twenty-four and twenty-seven percent. She also mentioned that IT exports are expected to touch four billion dollars this fiscal year. The Minister for Information Technology said that the target for this sector is an economic impact of twenty-five billion dollars in the next four years. She emphasized that the country is also moving towards a cashless economy, noting that digital payments will create greater transparency and efficiency.
