September 05, 2022

Flood situation still persists in several areas, and where it has receded, it has left traces of destruction behind it on Monday.
According to the informed sources, there is water everywhere in Umerkot district of Sindh. The water level in the district is rising due to flood. “If the accumulated water is not drained, Umerkot will turn into a river,” said the flood-hit people. In Narowal district of Punjab, a torrent of floodwater from Nullah Dek washed away the standing crops. There were huge cracks in the fields after the ravaging water torrent which also caused the walls of nearby buildings to collapse. Local farmers appealed to the government and administration for immediate assistance.

In Mehar tehsil of Sindh, the flood situation persists as hundreds of villages are still submerged, and the people are stranded there in their inundated houses. An operation by the army and navy for the rescue of the people stranded in their submerged houses is underway. In Dera Bugti district of Balochistan, monsoon rains have come to a halt, leaving traces of destruction behind them. Local artistes of Dera Bugti were also displaced. Poet Gul Hussain and his children are helpless under the open sky. “The government should help us,” the poet appealed. On the other hand, the porters at Hyderabad Railway Station have become unemployed due to the suspension of train operations after the recent rains and floods. The jobless porters are waiting for the arrival of passengers at the deserted railway station in Hyderabad so that they can carry their goods and receive their wages.
