Heavy downpour caused different incidents which took 3 precious lives while 7 got injured. The roof fell off a house in a village near Baba Bulleh Shah Interchange at Gajjumata Lahore resulting in, one dead and five people of the same house injured. Another roof fell off at Shaukat Khanum Chowk where two people sustained injuries. One injured was rushed to Jinnah Hospital for treatment. In two different incidents, electric current took lives of two citizens. According to Rescue sources, a 30 year old man, travelling on a motorbike got caught by current released from an electric pole. The dead could not be identified as of yet. The other incident took place in the premises of Kot Lakhpat Police Station where a citizen upon touching an electricity pole caught a heavy electric shock.
He was rushed to the General Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. Record breaking rain in Lahore The Punjab governement has declared rain emergency in Lahore. Lahore city experienced the most rainfall in 44 years today (Thursday) which resulted in flooding of low-lying areas. A heavy downpour in several areas of the inundated roads and streets in the provincial capital and motorists faced immense difficulties while trying to carry on with their routines. Rain caused disruption of electricity in parts of Lahore as dozens of feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped. The Met Office has predicted that the current rain spell in the country will continue till August 6.
