Crackdown intensifies against profiteering, substandard foodBreaking

Authorities across Kohat Division have intensified enforcement actions during the holy month of Ramazan to curb profiteering and the sale of substandard food items, aiming to provide maximum relief to the public.In Parachinar, Deputy Commissioner Kurram Ashfaq Khan conducted surprise inspections of major markets, checking official price lists and sanitation conditions at bakeries, poultry shops, general stores, and fruit and vegetable stalls. 

Several shopkeepers were issued notices for overcharging and poor hygiene, while strict legal action was warned against violators. The deputy commissioner also visited the district price monitoring desk, reviewed complaint registers and met citizens to hear concerns regarding rising prices. He urged the public to report profiteering promptly, assuring swift action by the administration. 

Meanwhile, in Karak district, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sahibzada Samiullah, along with teams from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Halal Food Authority, conducted inspections at Mithakhel Bazaar, Niazi Stop Culvert and Jail Chowk. During the inspections, the quality of cooking oil and ghee used in preparing popular Ramazan food items including kababs, samosas and pakoras was examined. 

Two vendors were fined on the spot for using harmful oil, while contaminated supplies were confiscated and destroyed. Officials warned traders to strictly adhere to government price lists and hygiene standards, stressing that public health and consumer relief remain top priorities. Authorities said inspections and price monitoring will continue on a daily basis throughout Ramazan to ensure stable prices, safe food and maximum relief for citizens.
