Hearing of the petition filed against the physical remand of Khawar Farid Maneka, ex-husband of the wife of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan Bushra Bibi, which was due to be held Saturday, was adjourned until October 2 as Additional and Sessions Judge Naeem Shaukat was on leave, on today. It is pertinent to mention here that Maneka is in the custody of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Punjab on an eight-day physical remand.
Three days ago, on Tuesday, a court in Okara had granted an eight-day physical remand of Maneka. Maneka, who was arrested by the ACE in Lahore on Monday, faces charges of raising structures on government land. According to the ACE, an inquiry was initiated following a reference was filed against him by the Okara deputy commissioner in which it was alleged that he had unlawfully set up a marriage hall and 26 shops on a site designated for a graveyard.
