The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to the Secretary of Higher Education Punjab and other concerned parties regarding a petition challenging the appointment of the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Sahiwal University as the interim VC of Okara University. Justice Shakeel Ahmed heard the petition, where the petitioner's counsel argued that the post of VC at Okara University should not have been given to the VC of another university, particularly when a Pro Vice Chancellor is already present. Advocate Chaudhry Muhammad Asif Shahzad contended that the appointment of Dr. Javed Akhtar, the current VC of Sahiwal University, to the interim position at Okara University, is illegal. The petition calls for the annulment of Dr. Javed Akhtar's interim charge as VC of Okara University. The court has now sought a detailed response from the Secretary of Higher Education Punjab and other relevant parties.
