An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Monday accepted the post-arrest bail application of PTI social activist Sanam Javed in the case of torching of PML-N office on May 9 in lieu of a bail bond of Rs0.2 million. ATC judge Arshad Javed Chadhar pronounced the verdict. Opposing Sanam’s plea, Deputy Prosecutor Abdul Jabbar Dogar said she incited people to vandalize and torch the office. “The fact is that she herself threw petrol bombs on that day.” Don’t take May 9 lightly, he went on to say, as the state was attacked on that day according to a well-orchestrated plan. PTI activist’s lawyer Shakil Pasha Advocate, on the other hand, said that his client was nominated in the case six months after the May 9 violence. Sanam is presently incarcerated for allegedly participating in incidents of violence on May 9. Thousands of people lost their temper on that day after they learnt about the arrest of former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan. They came out on streets in major cities of the country, ransacked and set government and even military installations on fire.
