One policeman was injured after some militants opened fire at a police checkpost in Peshawar early Wednesday morning. Police said that the cops retaliated due to which one of the assailants fled from the spot. It merits mention here that incidents of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are on the rise for the last several months, prompting the government to announce the launch of operation 'Azm-i-Istehkam' to flush out militants from the province. Addressing a press conference on Monday, ISPR Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif slammed those who were pointing out flaws in the operation, saying it would affect people's livelihoods. “A narrative is being built that the operation would displace people […] but the purpose of the operation was only to reinvigorate the already in-place National Action Plan (NAP),” the DG ISPR said, adding that the document of the operation clearly mentioned that.
