Commissioner of Multan Division, Maryam Khan, has announced the commencement of a verification process using Nadra data to ensure accurate distribution of Ramadan packages to beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Program. A spokesperson said on Wednesday that Ramadan package, comprising essentials like flour, sugar, gram flour, ghee, and rice, aims to support the impoverished during the holy month. She emphasized this during a review meeting on the monthly fasting package, attended by officials from relevant departments. Door-to-door and telephone verifications are underway across Multan Division to ascertain the eligibility of recipients.
She revealed that 3,37,138 individuals in Multan district, 2,16,765 in Khanewal district, 2,34,169 in Vehari district, and 1,36,840 in Lodhran district are set to benefit from the scheme. Records will be meticulously compiled, with third-party audits ensuring transparency in the process. Furthermore, she underscored the collective responsibility to assist those in need, particularly during challenging times. Efforts are also underway to establish affordable Ramadan markets, with plans for a dedicated Ramadan Bazaar in Shamsabad, Multan. Detailed briefings were provided by Deputy Commissioners during the meeting, emphasizing the commitment to efficient and equitable distribution of Ramadan provisions.
