Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Wednesday called for a comprehensive plan for prison reforms. An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in which Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari, Member Provincial Assemby (MPA) Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Home Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, IG Jails Farooq Nazir and other officials participated. During the meeting, principle approval was given for the establishment of women's jails in Faisalabad and Rawalpindi, while the Chief Minister Punjab also directed to establish new jails outside the city. Maryam Nawaz ordered and approved the revamping of Bakhshi Khana (Judicial Lock-up) and lock-up across Punjab. In the meeting, while expressing concern over the possible external connections of criminals from the prisons, it was also instructed to make the cyber security arrangements of the prisons foolproof.
