Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Shahdara Metrobus Station Remodeling Project on Monday in Lahore. The chief minister personally inspected the station, expressing admiration for the quality of construction work and the facilities provided. During her visit, Maryam Nawaz Sharif interacted with the staff at the ladies' counter, commending their dedication and expressing pride in their service. She emphasized the importance of providing excellent service to passengers and instructed the station staff accordingly. Additionally, the chief minister took an impromptu ride on a metro bus to Gaddafi Stadium, personally assessing the service quality. Secretary Transport and Mass Transit Ahmed Javed Qazi provided a briefing, revealing that over 1.36 billion passengers have utilized the metro bus service, with more than 176 thousand individuals commuting daily in Lahore alone.
Notably, the Shahdara metro bus station underwent remodeling to address passenger difficulties, including the installation of a new roof canopy. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif underscored the significance of modernizing public transport systems to combat climate change and environmental pollution. She lauded the efforts to introduce electric buses in Lahore, aiming to further mitigate environmental impact. The event was attended by notable figures including Senator Pervez Rasheed, Provincial Information Minister Uzma Zahid Bukhari, Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, and various Members of the Assembly, alongside key officials from the transport sector.
