Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has decided to establish the Punjab Enforcement Authority (PEA), aimed at tackling issues of adulteration, hoarding, and illegal profiteering across the province. This decisive step underscores the government's commitment to safeguarding citizens from unfair practices in food supply. According to Punjab government sources, the newly formed authority will conduct thorough inspections of food quality, oversee supply chains, and execute province-wide raids to eradicate adulteration. It will wield the authority to levy fines as part of its enforcement measures. Additionally, the Punjab Enforcement Authority will uphold hygiene standards in the production of goods and ensure strict adherence to legal regulations throughout Punjab. Collaboration with local administrations is also planned to address illegal encroachments. This initiative marks a proactive move by the Punjab government to protect consumer rights and maintain transparency in market operations, he added.
