CM Punjab accuses PTI of planning, facilitating May 9 violenceBreaking

July 23, 2024

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of orchestrating and facilitating the violent events of May 9. In a statement, Nawaz labeled PTI as an "anarchic group" aimed at destabilizing the state through deliberate acts of mischief. Nawaz claimed that the suspects involved in the May 9 incidents have confessed to planning and facilitating the violence. She described Zaman Park as a "training headquarters for terrorists," alleging that it was used to teach how to make petrol bombs and stage attacks on state institutions.

The Chief Minister condemned the destruction of over 200 military installations, the arson of Air Force planes, the burning of the Corps Commander’s house, and the desecration of martyr memorials. She accused PTI of plotting to destabilize Pakistan, including writing letters to the IMF, creating controversies with foreign nations, and undermining CPEC. Nawaz emphasized the need for stringent legal action against PTI, framing the group's actions as a grave threat to national security and integrity. She further recalled past incidents involving PTI, such as the 2014 attacks on Parliament and other key sites, as evidence of the party’s disruptive tactics.
