February 07, 2024

Two workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) were injured after a hand grenade was thrown at a convoy of the party’s candidate for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly seat PK-110 in South Waziristan District on Wednesday. Naseerullah Wazir, the PTI-P candidate, however, remained safe in the attack. The law and order situation in KP and Balochistan has been fragile for the last few months as hand grenade attacks and bomb blasts by the TTP and Baloch militants in these two provinces have become frequent now. On January 31, 2024, an independent candidate, from NA-8 and PK-22, Bajaur district of KP, who reportedly failed to get the PTI ticket, fell victim to a fatal shooting.

According to the police, Rehan Zeb Khan was busy electioneering in the locality when assailants opened fire at his vehicle. Rehan died on way to the District Headquarters Hospital. Additionally, four other individuals suffered injuries during the incident, as confirmed by the SHO. A day ago, four people were killed while six were wounded in a bomb blast also at a PTI rally in Sibi. According to Sibi Station House Officer (SHO) Zakaullah Gujjar, the injured persons were moved to the Civil Hospital where he said the condition of most of them was critical. He expressed fears that the death toll could rise. Gujjar informed that security forces immediately reached site of the blast after the incident.
