Bilawal calls for end to traditional politics, cites need for justice in fake casesBreaking

December 19, 2023

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged for a shift away from traditional politics, emphasizing the need for justice in cases he believes are politically motivated. Addressing the Lahore High Court Bar on Tuesday, Bilawal reiterated his gratitude for the hearing of a graft case against him, lodged over a decade ago. "Two generations have been oppressed and victimized," Bilawal stated, expressing his appreciation for judges, including Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, who are presiding over the case. He expressed hope for a fair resolution after years of waiting, highlighting the importance of justice not just for himself and his party members, but for setting a precedent against political persecution.

Bilawal criticized the trend of personal animosity in Pakistani politics, attributing its rise to the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. He challenged the rhetoric of refusing to engage with opponents, questioning the legitimacy of those who once accused others of being "thieves." "Until we make this decision," Bilawal declared, "it doesn't matter who becomes the prime minister. If we continue with the old politics, the country will not run, and we will not overcome our economic problems." His call for a shift in political culture emphasized the need for moving beyond personal attacks and focusing on issues of national concern.
