The Balochistan government's health department has taken action against the striking doctors and suspended 23 young ones. According to Special Assistant to Chief Minister for media Shahid Rind, show-cause notices have been issued to 25 officers while suspended registration of five doctors associated with postgraduate training programme. Strikes and closures in institutions related to human lives and health under the orders of the judiciary are illegal measures. A formal inquiry has been launched against the striking doctors.
All government health institutions in Balochistan will remain open and disciplinary action will be taken against employees absent from essential services. On the suggestion of senior doctors, the Balochistan government has formed a high-level review committee to analyze the security situation in health institutions. The committee will include provincial government officers, senior doctors, health department, and security officials. The health sector is directly related to human lives and any action against the public interest or violation of rules and regulations will not be tolerated.
The Balochistan government has ensured uninterrupted provision of medical services and institutional discipline in all government medical institutions. Steps are underway to resolve the legitimate problems of doctors and improve the health system, however, there will be no compromise on the law and service rules. Facts and responsibilities will be determined through transparent and impartial investigations in all cases.
