Awami National Party (ANP) like Jammiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has also rejected the recently announced “Operation Azm-e-Istehkam’ to tackle the menace of terrorism. Talking to media persons here, ANP’s provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that his party has reservations over the details involved in the military mission besides taking into confidence. The ANP leader also raised concern over the belatedly held election and a need for political stability to drag the country out of crises. The 2023 elections were the most rigged ever and they had even surpassed the 2018 polls in terms of the massive irregularities, he alleged. Mian Iftikhar said that huge taxes have been imposed in the recent budget and it seems to be a document prepared to benefit IMF and of no use for the masses. “Due to the government’s weak policies, the prices of fuel ad electricity are increasing continuously and the lives of the common people are becoming unlivable,” he added. Regarding ‘Operation Azm-e-Istehkam’ he said that the civil society and stakeholders were not taken in confidence over the military action and almost all political parties have opposed it.
