ANF foils smuggling bids in countrywide operationsBreaking

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized over 90 kg of hashish, 33 kg and 600 grams of opium and 12 kg of heroin from a car at Islamabad Motorway Toll Plaza and arrested three drug peddlers. In another operation of similar nature, the force at Sahianwala interchange Faisalabad seized over 32 kg and 400 grams of opium and 19 kg and 20 grams of hashish from a vehicle and lassoed a Khyber resident.

According to ANF spokespersons, an attempt to smuggle 508 grams of heroin was also foiled at Islamabad International Airport. The drug was hidden inside a laptop screen, while the accused, resident of Sargodha, was going to Jeddah. Likewise, two accused were arrested at Karachi International Airport in two different operations.

In the first operation, the ANF arrest a Dubai bound passenger, resident of Swat, and recovered 1.224 kg of heroin, hidden tactfully in a bag. In the second operation, 128 grams of narcotic pill powder and 620 grams of suspicious material were recovered from a suspect, who was going to Sharjah from Karachi. The accused was the resident of Rahim Yar Khan.

In yet another operation, an attempt to smuggle 280 grams of heroin to England through a private courier office at Lahore International Airport was foiled by ANF officials. Officials said that the recovered heroin was hidden in different types of plastic sheets and plastic packets.

Moreover, the ANF team conducted a raid at a local courier office outlet at MM Jinnah Road Karachi and recovered 4 kg and 160 grams of ice, absorbed into set cover, from a parcel coming from Rawalpindi. Two Karachi residents were arrested. Both the accused were also wanted by ANF in several cases. Cases have been registered against the arrested accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act.
