All power companies, K-electric involved in over billing: NEPRABreaking

July 31, 2024

NEPRA officials have submitted a report to the authority detailing incidents of overbilling from April to June 2024, implicating all distribution companies, including K-Electric. The report reveals that all distribution companies, including K-Electric, were involved in overbilling consumers. In response, the authority has demanded explanations from these companies and decided to issue directives to address the issue. According to NEPRA's instructions, bills charged on an estimated basis due to lower-than-scheduled readings from April 2024 to June 2024 will be adjusted to reflect actual recorded units. Consumers unable to pay bills based on estimated readings will not incur late payment surcharges, and those who have paid such surcharges will receive adjustments. Additionally, faulty meters must be replaced immediately to avoid average billing. All DISCOs, including K-Electric, are instructed to follow the Consumer Services Manual for accurate meter readings and submit a compliance report within 30 days.
