Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry said that all the arrangements regarding administration and security have been finalized across the province for the holy month of Muharram. He expressed these views during a high-level meeting held here at the Commissioner office which was also attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Additional Chief Secretary Home Muhammad Abid Majeed, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, Commissioner Dera Zafarul Islam Khattak, Regional Police Officer Nasir Mehmood Satti and other officers concerned. Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had issued special instructions for taking steps to maintain peace in Dera Ismail Khan. The religious scholars should also play their positive role in maintaining peace as Islam also teaches a lesson of peace and brotherhood, he added.
“All the gatherings and processions across the province will be closely monitored,” the Chief Secretary said and added that no one would be allowed to create unrest. The participants were briefed about the security plan and other arrangements in Dera Ismail Khan for the holy month of Muharram. Speaking on the occasion, IGP Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur said all the security arrangements have been finalized for peaceful conduct of Muharram. He added that a comprehensive security plan was formed for Muharram which was being implemented across the province.
He vowed that a police training school would be established in Dera Ismail Khan soon. Keeping in view the shortage of police, he said that the process for new recruitments was underway. The visiting officers also held a meeting with Ulama and ‘Aman Jirga’ members during their visit to Dera Ismail Khan. Later, the Chief Secretary, Additional Home Secretary, IGP, Commissioner and RPO also visited the ‘command and control’ room of police established at Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines for monitoring of Muharram processions. The RPO also briefed the visiting officers in detail about the security measures through cameras.
