Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan President Prof Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman has said that special people are the useful citizens of our society who are playing a significant role in the development of the country by transforming their apparent disability into their potential. Al-Khidmat Foundation is striving for the rehabilitation of special people and has so far distributed more than 52,000 wheelchairs worth Rs. 2.5 billion across the country, he added.
These views were expressed by Prof Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman while addressing a seminar organized at the Rose Chapel Hall of the great mother of knowledge Islamia College University as the chief guest on the occasion of the International Day of Special Persons. The seminar was presided over by Islamia College University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ahmed-ur-Rehman.
On this occasion, Al-Khidmat Foundation Provincial President Khalid Waqas, PEDO CEO Shahabuddin, Al-Khidmat Provincial Vice President Arbab Abdul Hasib, Al-Khidmat Women Trust President Nighat Seema, along with dignitaries from the city and representatives of special persons, were present in large numbers.
Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman said that on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, seminars will be organized in 23 cities across the country and awareness walks regarding persons with disabilities will be organized in 45 cities under Al-Khidmat. Today, free wheelchairs will be provided to 1,000 persons with disabilities across the country. He said that Al-Khidmat has continued its humanitarian service outside Pakistan as well.
So far, 5,500 tons of relief goods have been delivered to the oppressed Muslims of Gaza through 30 charter flights and 4 ships, worth more than 8.5 billion rupees. He said that at present, more than 6,000 people in Gaza have become disabled with their hands or feet. We are trying to establish a hospital for the production of artificial organs on the Gaza or Egyptian border in the near future if permission is granted. On this occasion, he also provided free wheelchairs to 35 persons with disabilities.
