AJK President urges UK govt to play role in resolving Kashmir dispute Breaking

The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Barrister Sultan Mahmood Ch, has urged the government of the United Kingdom to play its due role in resolving the lingering Kashmir dispute. According to Kashmir Media Service, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, addressing British Parliamentarians in the House of Commons, said the Kashmir dispute arose after Britain left the subcontinent.

He termed the Kashmir dispute as a constant threat to the region’s peace and security, adding that the long-standing dispute hangs on despite the lapse of 77 years Reminding the British government of its moral obligations vis-a-vis the resolution of longstanding Kashmir dispute, on Thursday said that the issue, rooted in the flawed partition of British India, continued to pose a threat to the region’s peace and stability. 

He said Kashmiris have been desperately looking for help from the international community. Highlighting the highly vulnerable situation in the region, the AJK president reminded the parliamentarians that both Pakistan and India were two nuclear powers and any mishap in the highly volatile region could trigger a nuclear war, which would jeopardise the peace of the entire region.
