AI system begins tackling traffic violations in LahoreBreaking

July 31, 2024

An Artificial Intelligence (AI) system has been implemented to improve traffic control and safety in Lahore, making it impossible for motorcyclists to evade penalties for not wearing helmets. The AI system, launched in the provincial capital, has started cracking down on motorcyclists riding without helmets. In the first week alone, 36,641 tickets were issued to violators under this new system. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Amara Athar, stated that riders will be fined not only for not wearing helmets but also for improper use, such as placing them on the bike's fuel tank or hanging them on the arm. Offenders are notified via SMS messages. On the previous day, the AI system sent e-challans to 14,937 violators. Amara Athar urged all motorcyclists to wear helmets, noting that the enforcement campaign has significantly reduced head injury cases in accidents. She emphasized that the AI system and advanced technology will be utilized to achieve better traffic management and ensure public safety.
