Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Minister of State, Shehryar Afridi, has expressed concerns regarding the removal of Sher Afzal Marwat from his position within the party, asserting that neither party leader Imran Khan nor Barrister Gohar Ali had any knowledge about the decision. Speaking to the media at the Peshawar High Court, Afridi emphasized that Marwat has always been a loyal and steadfast supporter of PTI, serving the party during difficult times. He further stated that the issue surrounding Marwat's removal will be discussed with Imran Khan, who is known for his compassion.
Afridi assured that the party would soon address the matter and reaffirmed PTI's commitment to the party's code of conduct. Afridi also raised concerns about the treatment of PTI workers, particularly in Punjab, where he claimed party members and ticket holders are being subjected to mistreatment. He criticized the state's failure to fulfill its promises to the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the halting of over Rs 20 billion in royalties from Kohat. Afridi emphasized that despite these challenges, the popularity of Imran Khan and PTI is growing as the party's followers continue to stand strong in the face of adversity.
He reiterated the party's commitment to the supremacy of the constitution and noted that negotiations could not take place under the current oppressive circumstances. On the matter of Afghanistan, Afridi expressed concern over the recent treatment of the neighboring country, stating that it is inappropriate to adopt such an attitude towards Afghanistan, a brotherly Islamic nation. He emphasized that Afghans who grew up in Pakistan remain loyal to the country and share a deep love for Pakistan.
