The district administration Abbottabad has intensified its efforts to improve public safety by launching an anti-encroachment operation along the Kunhar River and inspecting safety measures at a public chairlift in Galiyat.Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram, Additional Assistant Commissioner Galiyat Muhammad Tariq, accompanied by officials of the Irrigation Department and police, carried out an operation at Kunhar Bridge, Kohala Picnic Point against illegal structures built within the river channel and the High Flood Level (HFL).

During the operation, authorities demolished 42 illegal structures, including 30 shops and other constructions, established within the High Flood Level. As a precautionary measure to safeguard the public, three access routes leading to the river were also closed using heavy machinery.The district administration said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to preserve the natural flow of rivers and streams and reduce flood risks. It warned that no new encroachments would be allowed on waterways and that strict legal action would be taken against violators. 

In a separate activity under the provincial government's Good Governance Roadmap and District Service Delivery initiative, Additional Assistant Commissioner Galiyat Muhammad Tariq inspected the chairlift operating between Berot Kalan and Berot Khurd. During the inspection, the chairlift operator was directed to ensure strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete verification of all prescribed safety measures. The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public lives and ensuring that safety standards are strictly enforced at all public facilities across the district.
